Less than four months ago, Strawberry Resident Sherene Chen took the leap of a life time, jumping from running her Style by Sherene fashion consulting firm to becoming the executive director for Bloom, the renamed 17-year-old, San Rafael-based nonprofit Image for Success.

She beamed with excitement that Wednesday morning when we met outside the dressing room at Image for Success, a unique volunteer-based clothing store located a few miles north of the San Francisco Golden Gate.

Image for Success is a nonprofit organization in San Rafael. They provide two-week wardrobes to men, women and children transitioning to a life of self-reliance. Their goal is to offer individuals a revived sense of dignity and self-assurance that comes with looking their best. In addition to providing interview suits, Image for Success provides clothes for every day – a critical need when someone is making the effort to change their life.
About Bloom (formerly Image for Success) - Bloom is a volunteer-based nonprofit that provides complimentary wardrobes and life skills training to men, women, and children transitioning to a life of self-reliance. Our clients are among the low income or working poor populations who are referred by supporting social services agencies. The population served includes participants in substance abuse recovery programs, victims of spousal abuse, as well as others who are homeless, jobless, or suffering from economic hardship. Bloom not only provides clothes to satisfy the requirements of the workplace, but also to enhance the social and recreational needs of our clients who are working to transition to a life of self‐sufficiency.
